The rapid advancement of military innovations such as drone strikes, artificial intelligence-based weaponry, cyber warfare, and autonomous defense systems has introduced complex ethical and legal dilemmas that challenge the compatibility of these practices with Islamic principles of justice, peace, and the sanctity of human life. Drawing upon Qur’anic injunctions, Prophetic traditions, and principles of Islamic law (fiqh al-jihād), the study critically examines how such technologies may conflict with Islamic moral values or, under certain conditions, be ethically regulated. It further highlights the Prophet Muhammad’s (ﷺ) humane and reconciliatory approach during warfare as a timeless model for restraint, mercy, and respect for human dignity. Ultimately, the research advocates for a comprehensive application of Islamic ethical frameworks to guide and govern the use of modern warfare technologies, ensuring accountability, justice, and the protection of human rights in all contexts.
2025-10-13T07:37:17-06:00 Dr. Muhammad Younus Javaid younusjavaid@gmail.com Muhammad Zubair muhammadzubairmakki8281@gmail.com
This study presents an analytical examination of the concept of neutrality in inter-state relations in the light of the Sīrah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It explores how the Prophet’s diplomatic conduct, treaties, and interactions with diverse political entities reflected a principled form of neutrality grounded in justice, peaceful coexistence, and moral integrity. The research analyzes historical episodes such as the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, relations with Abyssinia, and engagements with non-Muslim tribes, identifying the ethical and strategic dimensions of neutrality within the Prophetic model. By employing an analytical methodology, the study situates the Prophetic approach within contemporary international relations theory, emphasizing its relevance to modern diplomatic ethics. The findings highlight that neutrality in Islamic political thought is neither passive nor indifferent but a constructive instrument for peace, balance, and fairness among states. The study recommends that contemporary Muslim states adopt the Prophetic model of principled neutrality to promote global peace and ethical diplomacy.
2025-07-24T02:16:11-06:00 Dr. Muhammad Ajmal Farooq ajmal.farooq@iiu.edu.pk
This study explores the contemporary dimensions of interfaith harmony in Muslim societies through the lens of the prophetic biography (Sīrah) of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Despite the geographic and social proximity of diverse religious communities, a lack of mutual understanding and tolerance continues to threaten societal cohesion and global peace. The article argues that the Prophetic model offers a comprehensive and timeless framework for fostering peaceful coexistence and interreligious dialogue. Drawing upon historical instances—such as the Constitution of Madinah, the Treaty of Najran, and other Sīrah-based examples—the study highlights the Prophet’s principles of mutual respect, religious freedom, non-coercion in faith, and equitable treatment of non-Muslim minorities. The research examines how these principles can be actualized in the contemporary context to counter extremism and promote a welfare-oriented society. Furthermore, the article proposes that fostering shared moral values and common human dignity through dialogue and social integration is essential for maintaining peace and justice in Muslim-majority societies. It concludes by offering policy-level recommendations for scholars, media professionals, and religious leaders to enhance interfaith understanding in accordance with Islamic ethical teachings.
2025-10-13T11:14:18-06:00 Dr. Soubhiya Hamed Khoudari soubhiyakhoudari@gmail.com Dr. Rana Nabil Abou Zaki ranajaber.74@gmail.com
This study explores the subject of attire in Islamic jurisprudence, focusing on the Sharia rulings that govern it and its profound impact on the behavior, identity, and values of individuals and society. It begins by defining the concepts of libās (attire) and sulūk (behavior), and by tracing the significance of clothing, both physical and symbolic as mentioned in the Qur’an. The study also examines the descriptions and examples found in the Sunnah regarding the attire of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), thereby highlighting the prophetic model of modesty and decorum. Furthermore, the research elucidates the legal dimensions of covering one’s nakedness (awrah), outlining the various Sharia rulings related to permissible, recommended, and prohibited forms of clothing. Beyond jurisprudential discussions, the study investigates the broader ethical and social dimensions of attire, analyzing how Sharia-compliant dress influences moral behavior, personal identity, and the overall fabric of Muslim society. Employing a descriptive-analytical methodology, this research addresses the central question: What are the Sharia rulings concerning attire, and how does clothing affect individual and collective conduct within a legal, moral, and social framework? The study ultimately underscores that attire is not merely an external expression of style or culture, but a reflection of faith, modesty, and moral consciousness, one that shapes the spiritual and social harmony of the Muslim community.
2025-12-04T10:52:35-07:00 Dr. Abdul Salam Hamood nooraddeen777@gmail.com Dr. Abdul Mukit muqitabdul1988@gmail.com
This research examines the concept of "Risk Management through the Prophetic Migration (Hijra)," presenting Prophetic strategic planning. The noble Prophetic Migration from Makkah to Madinah constitutes a pivotal juncture in Islamic history. This investigation is predicated upon a comprehensive analysis of the multifaceted dimensions of risk management demonstrably present within the Prophetic Hijra blueprint. This encompasses an initial phase of proactive risk identification and assessment, followed by an elaborate proactive planning regimen designed to avert or mitigate potential adversities. Subsequent stages involved the judicious assignment of roles and delegation of responsibilities, the formulation of robust contingency plans to address unforeseen eventualities, and the rigorous maintenance of absolute confidentiality. Ultimately, the plan culminated in the profound manifestation of reliance upon Divine Providence and celestial endorsement. The methodology employed herein entails a systematic dissection of the Hijra's sequential phases from the vantage point of contemporary risk management principles, drawing extensively from authoritative primary sources of Prophetic biography (Seerah) and Hadith. The overarching objective is to present this momentous historical narrative as an exhaustive managerial archetype, from which invaluable insights and applications may be derived for contemporary strategic planning endeavors.
2025-11-25T00:00:00-07:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Mohi ud Din Journal of Islamic Studies https://mjis.miu.edu.pk/index.php/mjis/article/view/37 Espousal Diversity vis-à-vis Human Rights: Visions from the Sīrah for a Harmonious and Pluralistic World 2024-05-26T08:18:56-06:00 Muhammad Faran Warraich mfw786@gmail.com Saima Azhar Saimaazhar087@gmail.com
In today’s interconnected world, embracing diversity is essential for promoting social harmony, peace, and sustainable development. The wisdom of the Messenger Muhammad ﷺ offers a profound framework for understanding and valuing diversity. The Qur’an upholds the inherent dignity of all individuals, transcending distinctions of race, culture, and belief, and advocates justice, compassion, and peaceful coexistence. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, through his actions and teachings, exemplified these principles by encouraging respect, inclusivity, and mutual understanding within a diverse society. This research paper explores the Islamic perspective on diversity, emphasizing its role as a cornerstone for building a pluralistic and harmonious world. It argues that respecting diversity is both a moral duty and a practical necessity in the modern globalized era. The study demonstrates how Islam promotes the recognition and appreciation of differences, nurturing empathy and unity among people of varied backgrounds. Furthermore, it highlights how these Islamic principles can address contemporary challenges related to multiculturalism, social justice, and global peace. Drawing from the Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ and Qur’anic guidance, the paper concludes that Islamic teachings provide a timeless model for fostering inclusivity, cooperation, and a cohesive, peaceful society.
2025-10-13T00:00:00-06:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Mohi ud Din Journal of Islamic Studies https://mjis.miu.edu.pk/index.php/mjis/article/view/88 Seerah-Based Reconciliation to Marital Conflict Resolution: Analysis of Spousal Communication in Pakistani Families 2025-08-18T13:01:33-06:00 Tauqeer Abdullah tauqeer.malik2023@uop.edu.pk Hina Ashraf hina@uoswabi.edu.pk
This study explored the relationship between Prophet Muhammad’s (ﷺ) reconciliatory practices, spousal communication quality, and marital conflict, focusing on how communication mediates the link between reconciliatory behaviours and conflict. Rooted in marital relationship dynamics and guided by ethical principles demonstrated by Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), the research examined whether a decline in reconciliatory practices adversely affects communication and increases marital discord. The study was conducted in Peshawar using a purposive sample of 721 married individuals (359 females, 362 males) representing diverse age groups, educational backgrounds, and family types. Data were collected through validated self-report measures and analyzed using SPSS and AMOS, incorporating exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, structural equation modelling, and mediation testing. Findings revealed that low adherence to Prophetic reconciliatory practices was significantly associated with reduced spousal communication quality and increased marital conflict, with communication quality playing a strong mediating role. The study concludes that strengthening reconciliatory practices and communication skills can effectively promote marital harmony and stability.
2025-10-18T00:00:00-06:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Mohi ud Din Journal of Islamic Studies
